Lynell Sala, our research director extraordinaire, singlehandedly–again–found the client’s matriarchal ancestor in the NY Passenger List. It gave the name of her German place of origin–THE crucial piece of data with which to continue German Genealogy research! Lynell also found the target patriarchal ancestor’s family in the very 1st census after their USA arrival! All vital data for my whirlwind research this week in SLC{;>)

I am:

#1: Honored to have been the one to tell both of my grandmothers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean precisely who their grandparents were. This, by showing them evidentiary proof in USA Census records & in German scripted documents! Yes, I found MANY more.

#2: Since 1979: Pleased to have found thousands of online & offline data, documents & images for thousands of ancestral family members for hundreds of clients! Traveled 10 times behind the former Iron Curtain (when it was neither fun, nor easy)

#3: This includes having found the pre-Emancipation ancestor—Itasca “Tasker” Russ–for my fellow high school days soul music band member, Tim Russ (aka Lt. Cmdr. Tuvok, the black Vulcan on Star Trek Voyager)! He & his brother wrote me a nice endorsement on Linkedin.

East Coast USA Deutsche Bank Executive’s (Our Client’s) German immigrant target ancestor is a turn-of-the-century 1903 car-brake patent holder! Interesting & Impressive!  We’ve also found his target German immigrant ancestor & family members on the 1930, 1920 & 1910 Censuses & New York Passenger List!  No, of course, the surname was NEVER spelled or transcribed correctly. 

These three censuses gave us the following years of immigration, respectively; 1897; 1889; 1895.  Professionally, you normally would start with the earliest census’s evidence, but we’ll use the range of 1889 through 1897.  More on that in a future post.
Then we found his immigrant target ancestor’s 1903 patent for a car-brake. Cool. 5 pages of details from the USA Patent & Trademark office,

but found it NOT on their website, but rather on Ancestry.com, our international treasure.
