How do you hold a professional German Genealogist moonbeam in your hand? You don’t.

Puget Sound Genealogical Society (closed) Group Facebook Post by Karl-Michael Sala

‎@ Rosemarie! Because of the oddities of “German(ic)” geography & history, each case is indeed its own. Historical “Germany” extends into numerous modern-day European countries, from Alsace & Belgium to Austria & Bessarabia..

For some limited complimentary counsel, you may email us your dilemma. That’s how Lynell & I have taught numerous German Genealogy “classes” that we call “workshops.” This means we are weary of people just talking & squawking about German Genealogy. While it may be just a hobby for some, for us, ’tis a passion & profession that nobody can deny or deny from us.

As a near-death experience (NDE) survivor, I say that time is short. It is time instead to get busy & crack, solve & build the case!

29 June 2011: We cracked two more cases that our client, Jill Holcomb, & another pro’ German Genealogist had been working on for THIRTY YEARS! We solved it in 2 hours! Tscheschen-Glashütte, Schlesien, Preussen. One Polish; the other German (yes, they did marry{;>).

The client cried with joy now 3 times: 1) When I analyzed her case & ordered the RIGHT microfilms; 2) When I found both target ancestors on those microfilms & posted the stunning images in her online tree (no, the years of birth she had were not correct); & 3) today as we discussed our having found yet other ancestral family members on both lines whom she & the other genealogist had missed. (Not blasting; just commenting).

Today, a grateful new client posted our 63rd endearing endorsement since 2008 on Linkedin.com for professional German Genealogy Research!

Since 1979, I’ve done much volunteer work in Family History Centers in CA, CO, Germany, NV, UT, just as I now do at the Mesa, Arizona Regional Family History Center. I love what I do for patrons & clients. Please don’t try to pop my bubble & those who need what I can do for them.

To please the administrator & a few others, I’ll conform & omit my URL. But, truly, how do you hold a moonbeam ray of German Genealogy research hope in your hand? You don’t & you don’t prevent others from doing so. You cheerlead for them{;>) & publish it on the mountain & the rooftops!

Professional German Genealogy Research Publishing?

Karl posted on a Linkedin Genealogy Group post about publishing:

Karl-Michael SALA, German Genealogist since 1979! • Historically, speaking as the researcher for many family history books that are already published,

both the author AND the publisher were overly anxious & zealous to “…just get the thing published.”

This, prior to the appropriate quantity & quality of research that SHOULD have been done prior to the ultimate publication.

Yes, we are talking minor & major errors of omission & commission. Heaps of mistakes & miscellany.

There. I feel a whole lot better now. Cheap therapy.

I hope this encourages you to NOT quickly publish, unless, of course, it is online with the Wiki-oriented intent to have others contribute, comment, append, edit, follow-up, research, send you funding, etc.

And when that funding ($1,000 – $100,000) is secured, you know whom to contact:

World War 1: 8.3 MILLION German Soldiers’ List

World War 1: 8.3 MILLION German Soldiers’ List! I wonder if my great-grandfather is on it? I’m outta here to find the handle-bar Kaiser Wilhelm mustachioed guy who is wearing a vest & a hat, on the lower far right, the leader of the street construction crew,. You know–the cobblestone! I have his WW1 Military ID even. Karl Friedrich Viehmann is the name, but was known as “Fritz,” just as was my grandfather, his son.

Oh, heck, Ancestry.com! You led me on. Can’t you state that it is only pertaining to Bayern? Yes, I realize some of the soldiers were not from Bayern, but you could still clarify in your ad!

On this ad, you should have indicated in a shorter fashion: Soldaten aus dem Deutschen Reich: In der Bayerischen Armee dienten nicht nur Bayern, sondern auch zahlreiche Soldaten aus dem gesamten Deutschen Reich, vor allem bei den Piloten der Luftstreitkräfte.

For their clients at GermanGenealogist.com, these Professional German Genealogists use e-Image Data Corporation’s near-miracle ScanPro 2000 daily!

Using E-image Data Corporation’s ScanPro 2000 microfilm scanner is where & how Lynell & I, Karl-Michael Sala of GermanGenealogist.com work near-miracles for clients each day at the Mesa, Arizona Regional Family History Center. An image is seen on the screen, but on that same screen is where the software displays the image controls!

I have connections in Salt Lake City to get us copies of books that are not orderable into a FHC. Send me your requests & we’ll get those going. Entire book? Certain pages only? Title Page, Table of Contents & Index, with pertinent ancestral family entries? Hard copies, CD, images burned & uploaded to Box.net?

Yes, there are allegedly a “few” microfilm copies, but I don’t want to compete with you when ordering the microfilms. So, you order them into your best FHC. We’ll talk more about that in a minute.

Yes, you’ll need to have your Russian linguist decide which films of the few I sent would be the births or deaths (or are they all mixed on one film). Then just order those from & only into a FHC that has a ScanPro2000 device (image shown herein). Ask fervently about which FHC in your area has 1 or 2 (Mesa has 2, thank goodness). With it, we have performed numerous near-miraculous adjustments of horrible microfilm images. If necessary, it is well worth several extra miles of driving.

We/you can lighten just the dark parts (a little easier) of an image &/or darken just the light parts (a bit trickier) of an image. You can scan them small, take ’em home & still be able to massively enlarge, crop & edit the images. There is usually someone at a Regional Family History Center to coach you. If not, you can arrange to have me be available between certain hours on (a) certain day(s) on the phone to tell you where to click, using right or left click, etc. Prior to calling me, please exhaust first their services.

The more the staff at a FHC & I can teach you to fish, the more you will be able to do on your own & preserve capital for necessary research functions. But, I will shore up the flank.

Lynell &/or Karl-Michael SALA ! Since 1979: Thousands of data, documents & images found on thousands of ancestral family members for hundreds of clients!
