Cieszyn (in Ostrow Wielkopolski), once known as Tscheschen-Glashütte & Tscheschen-Hammer) early church records found!

With the professional, guidance of Karl-Michael Sala, a former USAFR Intelligence Officer highly skilled in geography & maps, he steers his agent in Poland away from an incorrect location.  Therewith, she goes on to crack yet another East European (Poland) case for our client!  She found the Cieszyn (Ostrow Wielkopolski), once known as Tscheschen-Glashütte & Tscheschen-Hammer) early church records having been bound up in the wrong parish register “gray sleeve or cover wrapping.” Whew. That should bring us another generational family & all their children! Root, Root! Gorzow Wielkopolski is NOT to be confused with Ostrow Wielkopolski! These two are not in the same “county” within Poland.

For my airline pilot friend from Stebbins high school, via counsel with my Poland connection, I cracked yet another case–this time a Ukraine, Russia case in Derewok, Ukraine, Russia! Деревок (Ukrainian), Деревок (Russian) for Spiliszewski or Spilizewski!

Kowel, Ukraine, county seat for Derewka or Derewok

kolonia DEREWOK gromada Radoszyn, gmina Hołoby, powiat Kowel, województwo wołyńskie

Karl-Michael Sala Another case cracked today in the Ukraine, Russia! Place of origin from the USA passenger list was re-interpreted as Derewka or Derewok.  This little village was/is in the Kovel (aka Kowel) district, a reasonable phonetic variant of the target place, Kowal or Kowel. Derewok in the parish of Holoby (earlier aka Goloby), Kovel’s’kyi district, Volyns’ka, Ukraine! It’s time for us to play some music & sing{;>)

Well, here.  You read it.  Be sure to click on the little  image to make it more readable.  Then scroll to the right to read Derewka or Derowka, a variant:

Karl-Michael Sala We are Very grateful to our agent in Poland for the crucial 2nd opinion!  Gratitude was expressed via PayPal to her account{;>)

Karl-Michael [Sala of GermanGenealogist.com] is a genius at translating smudged-ink German handwriting! How he read the documents I sent to him, I’ll never know. I wasn’t expecting to have such wonderful translation, perhaps just a word or two to give me a hint, but he read nearly all of the documents word for word for me. What a talent! I highly recommend Karl-Michael to anyone with a German heritage needing genealogical research or translation. He is honest, forthright, and of the highest integrity.
Keywords: Genealogy, Geneology, German Genealogy, Germanic Genealogy, Prussia

Karl responds: Thank you, Diane! Talent, Technology & Time is how it was done, Diane!

Here is just a portion of Diane’s ancestor’s document image which had been both enlarged & enhanced from its original, even darker state. At the bottom of the smaller image is how the handwriting is supposed to look. In this case, the writer used both German & your more familiar Latin scripts!

TWO $1,000 clients acquired via Karl’s Linkedin.com German Genealogy activity!

Yes, it is a numbers game that must constantly & consistently, but with finesse, be played.  One client called me “dear” in writing & when I talked with her on the phone.  Mind you, this was a total stranger who had merely read my writings & profile on Linkedin.com!  Our conversation was like we had known each other for years!  Yes, this is the way it is supposed to be!  GermanGenealogist.com is happy. Karl-Michael Sala aka GermanGenealogist.com gets 66th endorsement on Linkedin.com for German Genealogy!

Karl-Michael Sala coached this client to step away from the notion that his ancestor came from “Osnabruck.”  It is the professionally-accepted practice to FIRST exhaust all USA sources, to include family members.  This case was cracked by this client pinning down a location NEAR Osnabrück–Mettigen he thought, but we clarified “Mettingen,” which is indeed very near to Osnabrück!

OK, I’ll buy that.  So, I linked up with him, for, by way of what he wrote, I recognized his identity.  He is someone who sat right behind me when we did fund-raising for conservative causes in Mesa, AZ {;>)  Out of about 100 rep’s, I was often THE #1 fund-raiser.  He would listen to my technique.

Nice to hear from German Genealogy clients, an LDS author, from the 1980s, whose German ancestry research case in Lippe, Detmold we cracked!

    Diane Deputy

Dear Karl, So happy to hear you and your wife are doing so well. With all the increased interest in genealogy, there should also be many more interested in finding German ancestors.

I will always be appreciative of the fine work you did clearing the block on our Dreier family in Lippe, Germany. Later, I was able to extend the line even further, by following an inspired happening in the Staatsarchiv in Detmold, which led me to Sternberg in Lippe and contacted the church in that area.   Karl, all the best to you and your wife!    Sincerely, Diane Deputy
